I must admit that this is largely due to having been indoctrinated into following Scotland as a boy, whilst having to endure that burden living my whole life in England. However, in an effort to be objective, it seems to me that the England teams of the past 20 years or so have achieved exactly what their skills ought to have yielded - a couple of semi-finals. If England fans would stop being taken in by the jingoistic tabloid press with the ludicrous bookmakers hanging on to their shirt-tails, they would be much happier with the outcomes of major championships. England to get knocked out at the quarter-final stage in South Africa - and no, I won't be supporting them, that would be like cheering the Mags on for me!
