Having a quarter Welsh (Gwinnell) in me(not literally) they only operate under certain conditions. Either in the valleys or in the East End supporting the Hammers (thanks to my Grandad 'Jack' Gwinnell to introducing me to football via the Local Line). So climatic and socioeconomic along with geographic variables have obviously played havoc in the man’s head. I don't know why he has annoyed me so much, it's strange..... Maybe the distance from home causes John to be unaware of the sheer genius that is Steve Bruce. Managers develop as they move up the ladder. Going up the rungs from Birmingham to Wigan tells us a lot about the people who ran City. With the backing of Whelan and now Short, Bruce has been able to put together teams of talented footballers who can play a bit.
