"They had to be ushered out of of the pub just as they were about to get their kit off. A great shame although a couple of the prop forwards would've been better off staying fully clothed.." - Andy, on his SAFC v Man City matchday experience, in the company of female rugby players, in a Twickenham pub
"I couldn't care less what any sponsor might call it. It will be the Stadium of Light to us fans. I would welcome sponsorship by Viagra for example as we will probably stay up for a few seasons as a result of their financial contribution ..."One supporter's comment
"Tried to volley instead of heading it, couldn't sleep for weeks afterwards." Danny Dichio on his missed sitter in the Charlton playoff final (as explained to the same Rob as above, at Twitter)
Why Bordeaux baiting? “What the f*** would Chamakh do at Sunderland? You have heard him say he will only sign for a big English club. I don’t want to insult Sunderland, but I don’t even know where they finished last season.” - Jean-Louis Triaud, president of "big club" Bordeaux.
Triaud and his manager, Laurent Blanc, say Sunderland are not a big enough club for Marouane Chamakh:
So: league position 30/12/09: Bordeaux 1st; Sunderland 10th (in a much stronger league)
But: average home attendances: Bordeaux 29,746; Sunderland 40,552
And: top flight championships: Bordeaux 6; Sunderland 6
"I think we handled the Chamakh case badly" - Jean-Louis Triaud, interview in L'Equipe, Dec 4 2009
